Original Limited Edition Poster

Bethlehem Artist David Sullivan has created a black and white limited edition poster for the 1st Annual Bethlehem Historic and Cultural Festival.

The piece David created commemorates the Bethlehem Steel Company and honors the people who worked there. David will be present at the event to sign prints of the poster and display his other artwork.

David Sullivan, a self-taught pen & ink artist who specializes in architecture and portraits, has recently begun a series of drawings of the Bethlehem Steel. His bold, realistic style has earned him several awards in previous years of Bethlehem's sidewalk art show, as well as an appearance as a Musikfest Muralplatz artist. His pen & Ink prints of historical Bethlehem Buildings have been enjoyed by residents for over twenty years. Sullivan currently resides in Bethlehem PA, and can be reached at 610-417-2409 E-mail: dsullivanstudio@rcn.com

Moon Rock on display in the Ice House with a related exhibit

This lunar sample was picked up by Apollo 17 Astronaut Harrison Schmitt near the landing site in the Taurus - Littrow Valley region of the Moon. When collected the entire rock weighed 12.7 pounds. The piece on display weighs 2.25 ounces. The collision that produced the large circular basins visible from Earth produced this rock about 3.7 billion years ago. The rock is called a Mare basalt. Scientific research is being conducted on the balance of this sample at NASA's Johnson Space Center, at other research centers in the United States and certain foreign nations. The study is to determine the composition and ages of materials that formed the early crust of the Earth. Pieces of rock also have been used to learn about cosmic rays and particles given off by the Sun and other Stars. (The magnetic field and atmosphere around the Earth protects us from most rays and particles.)

On display at the Ice House as well is a Model railroad display presented by the Lehigh & Keystone Valley Model Railroad Club

Steelworkers Archive Registration & Displays

Steelworkers are the legacy!

The Steelworkers' Archives will be most effective when every Steelworker is registered. Whether the former Steelworker has hours of stories or a few brief facts to share, the Archive invites every former steelworker (whether it be Bethlehem Steel, U.S. Steel, etc.) to register with them. In addition to recording their story in text, video, and/ or audio, photos, home videos, letters, clothing, and artifacts are needed. All pieces, whether donated or on loan, will be documented, exhibited, and preserved according to archival standards. There will be a booth at the festival where former steelworkers can bring these items and register and where people can view videos and special interactive programs relating to the archive.

Registration for the Steelworkers Archives is open to all Steelworkers regardless of what company the individual worked for.
